HERON Supporting the Greek Student Team “RaceDrifters” at International Racecar Challenge

HERON is proud to support, through the Institute of Robotics of Athena Research Center, the Greek Student Team RaceDrifters in the International Racecar Challenge, held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The RaceDrifters, all students of the Agioi Anargyroi Model High School in Athens, Greece, won the 1st place in the 4th Panhellenic Robotics Competition Racecar Challenge – Mathisi 2025. Initially, they successfully completed the Racecar Neo educational program and the introductory Python Core course, under the supervision of their coach and instructor, Sarantos Kapidakis, obtaining certification from MIT.

As part of this collaboration, the students visited HERON’s facilities and presented their car. During the visit, they had the opportunity to meet researchers who collaborate with both HERON and the Robotics Institute of the Athena Research Center, exchanging ideas, having fruitful discussions on robotics issues and enriching their knowledge in a meaningful interactive experience.

This initiative fosters student interest in cutting-edge technologies, including unmanned systems and management, control and information systems, while preparing the next generation with the skills needed to manage autonomous vehicles (AV) on a global scale.

HERON supports youth innovation and knowledge transfer by strengthening initiatives that cultivate cutting-edge skills, motivating young people to push the boundaries of creativity and technological thinking.
