Abstract

NYUAD established CAIR over the past five years and extended its operation until 2031 with an intention of making it an international AI and robotics research hub. Over its first four years, CAIR participated in 187 conference articles and 130 journal publications while it organized several workshops, symposia and participated in several panel discussions. With its affiliated 21 faculty members (between NYUAD and NYU) spanning three different divisions and several graduate researchers, CAIR’s research is organized into five pillars, covering a) collaborative control of multi-agent systems, b) embodied AI (perception, cognition), c) resilient AI and (adversarial) control, d) AI/Robotics for Human Augmentation and Healthcare, and e) Intelligent underwater vehicle-manipulator systems. This presentation focuses on the successive topics generated by CAIR over its first 5 years (drones, humanoids, haptics, et al.) acting as a springboard for the next half decade. This presentation is led by CAIR’s director Anthony Tzes, supplemented by the research efforts of CAIR’s four Co-PIs (Yann Le-Cun, Farshad Khorrami and Yi Fang).
