Getting to Athens from the Airport
- Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation –Inaugural event (Thursday April 3)
2. Divani Caravel Hotel – Internal Kick off meeting (Friday April 4)
There are mainly three ways to travel from and to the Athens International Airport (El.Venizelos) to the conference venue. Athens has a convenient network of public transit including subways (metro), buses, and tram.
Our venues (1 and 2) are located in the city centre, well accessible through public transit. There is one metro station 10 minutes away from both venues on foot, on the M3 blue metro line (there are 3 metro lines in total; green-M1, red-M2, and blue-M3). There is also a multitude of bus routes that take you similarly close. The map below showcases this accessibility (note for scale that the “EVANGELISMOS” station is 10 minutes away on foot):
By metro from the Eleftherios Venizelos airport
You will board the Metro from the Airport’s Station (M3-Metro blue line 3), and get off at “Evangelismos Station”, or “Syntagma” if your hotel is closer to Syntagma square. This is about half an hour ride and the cost of a single ticket is € 9 per person. From Evangelismos station, our venues are 900m away.
You can find a wider metro plan here for convenience. Note that both venues’ central location allows relatively easy access to all metro lines.
By public bus from Eleftherios Venizelos airport
To access both venues by city bus from the Athens International Airport, use the Line E95 (X95). You should get off at “Hilton-Evangelismos” or at “Syntagma” bus stop depending of where you are staying. The ride lasts around 45 minutes and the ticket costs € 7.70. The buses leave every 15-20 minutes. You can find more information here.
Taxis from the airport
Taxis are readily available upon exiting the airport; you should expect a flat fee of ~40 or 50 EUR during the day or night respectively to get from the airport to the city center (which is where the venue and most nearby hotels are located). For more information on the pricing please consult this table, taken from the airport’s taxi transportation webpage .
