27 Sep – 1 Oct 2026 HERON Presence at IROS 2026
HERON was proudly represented at IROS 2026, the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, held from September 27 to October 1, 2026, in Pittsburgh, USA.
HERON PhD students Nikolas Chatzis and Panagiotis Mermigkas attended IROS 2026 in person and presented two papers in robotics and intelligent systems. Both papers were supervised by Prof. Petros Maragos.
The first paper involved contributions from Angeliki Tsinouka, Katerina Papadimitriou, Niki Efthymiou, Paris Oikonomou, Gerasimos Potamianos and Panagiotis P. Filntisis, while the second was co-authored with Argyris Manetas.
The two papers presented were the following:
● Mind the Shape Gap: A Benchmark and Baseline for Deformation-Aware 6D Pose Estimation of Agricultural Produce
Nikolas Chatzis, Angeliki Tsinouka, Katerina Papadimitriou, Niki Efthymiou, Marios Glytsos, George Retsinas, Paris Oikonomou, Gerasimos Potamianos, Petros Maragos, Panagiotis P. Filntisis
● GLAM-SLAM: Real-time Gaussian Large-scale Mapping via Flow Densification and Spatial Decomposition
Panagiotis Mermigkas, Argyris Manetas, Petros Maragos
It was a privilege to contribute to one of the largest annual robotics conferences worldwide and to showcase HERON’s research findings on intelligent robots and systems.
