HERON proudly announces its Inaugural Event and partners’ Kick-off meeting, for the creation of the first Center of Excellence (CoE) in Robotic Technologies in the era of Artificial Intelligence in Greece. The event will take place on Thursday April 3 & Friday April 4, 2025, at the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation on Thursday and at the Divani Caravel Hotel on Friday.

The EU Teaming project brings together distinguished representatives from the European Commission, Government, Academia, and Industry.

The Inaugural event marks the start of the HERON CoE’s operation with a vision to bring together the science of Robotics with all branches of AI technology applications in the country, to act as a hub for researchers from different institutions from Greece and the Diaspora and to become an important research center in the Balkans. The CoE’s Research Departments and Makerspaces will focus on forging synergies with the robotics industry bridging research in Field, Health and Safety robotics, with end products that will help Greece prosper in all sectors of economy, health, maritime, security, and the environment.

Day 1 – High-Level Kick-off Ceremony

Venue: Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, Athens, Greece
Time: 09:30 – 15:00

This Kick-off Ceremony will feature welcome speeches from high-level representatives of the European Commission and national authorities, keynote addresses from HERON partners, and a panel discussion on “Robotics in the AI Era”, where experts from academia and industry will explore the evolving role of robotics and artificial intelligence in modern technology.

Day 2 – Internal Kick-off Meeting

Venue: Divani Caravel Hotel, Athens, Greece
Time: 09:30 – 17:00

The Internal Kick-off Meeting will focus on HERON’s research and innovation strategy, project implementation, and collaboration between partners. Discussions will cover policy aspects, research department structures, and HERON’s long-term objectives.

This inaugural event represents a significant step in establishing HERON as a leading center of excellence in Robotics and AI, fostering international collaborations and pioneering cutting-edge technological advancements.
