4–8 May 2026 HERON Presentations at ICASSP 2026
HERON – The Hellenic Robotics Center of Excellence was proudly represented at ICASSP 2026 (IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing), held on May 4–8, 2026, in Barcelona, Spain.
Under the theme “Where Signals Meet Intelligence,” ICASSP 2026 brought together the global signal processing community, featuring over 4,500 peer-reviewed oral and poster presentations across machine learning, speech and audio processing, computer vision, sensing systems, and artificial intelligence.
HERON contributed to the conference with two research papers, highlighting advances in bioacoustic learning and neural network optimization:
The papers were first-authored by HERON researchers Dimitris N. Makropoulos and Nikolaos Chatzis, under the supervision of Prof. Petros Maragos, Director & Scientific Coordinator of HERON.
Representation-Diverse Self-Supervision for Cross-Domain Bioacoustic Learning in Low-Resource Settings
D. N. Makropoulos, C. Garoufis, A. Tsiami, P. P. Filntisis, P. Maragos
Shared-Weights Extender and Gradient Voting for Neural Network Expansion
N. Chatzis, I. Kordonis, E. Theodosis, P. Maragos
HERON’s participation at ICASSP 2026 reflects its continued commitment to advancing cutting-edge research in signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, while strengthening its presence within the international research community.
